ABC outside broadcast cameras come to Scarborough in 1965 to broadcast the tennis

Freddie Trueman, the famous Yorkshire cricketer, being interviewed prior to the televised tennis broadcast by Martin Locke. The interview was recorded and later seen by viewers in “Summer Sport.” Freddie was giving his views whilst visiting the Championships on the first day of his one-match suspension. 
During the televising of the Men’s Doubles Final, the Final of the Women’s Singles was taking place on the adjoining court. Miss Sally Holdsworth of Huddersfield is seen here serving to the title-holder Miss Joyce Fulton of Wakefield. Miss Holdsworth beat Miss Fulton 2-6, 9-7, 8-6 to become the new Yorkshire Women’s Singles Champion. 
ABC-TV Camera 1 – situated in the pavilion – focusses on the Men’s Doubles Final, in which P.W. Pool and B.H. Sheridan beat J.R. Ramsbottom and T. Pickering 6-3, 2-6, 9-7, 7-5. 
Chief of ABC-TV’s Outside Broadcasts, David Southwood, congratulates Geoffrey Hall on his recent appointment as an Outside Broadcast Director. Mr. Hall was educated at Barnsley Grammar School and met his wife at Hambleton, near Selby.
ABC-TV televised the Men’s Doubles Final of the Yorkshire Lawn Tennis Championships on the centre court of the Scarborough Lawn Tennis and Squash Racquets Club, Filey Road, Scarborough recently.
